Billboard Coalition Sues L.A. City Attorney

A lawsuit has been filed against the Los Angeles City Attorney to bar him from arresting sign law violators and setting excessive bail.

The suit was filed by the President of three outdoor companies and a property rights group. It comes after Keyvan Setareh, the owner of a building at Hollywood Blvd. and Highland on which a supergraphic was placed, was jailed for a weekend in lieu of $1,000,000 bond. (more…)

Lamar Loss Widens In 4th Quarter

Lamar Advertising Company’s quarterly loss widened and revenue fell short of estimates, according to quarterly financials that were just released by the company. Shares of the 108 year old company fell as much as 9% after the announcement, but then regained some of that territory later in the day. (more…)

Lamar Sues the City of Detroit

Lamar Advertising of Michigan, Inc. has filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Detroit for allegedly charging improper licensing fees for billboard advertising in the City of Detroit over a six year period. The charges in question total almost $200,000 during this period.

The lawsuit states “(in) 2004, the sign license fees charged by the City of Detroit more than doubled without any commensurate increase in the reasonable cost to enforce its regulations. (more…)

Lamar Challenges Ruling Against Digital Sign

Lamar Tennessee, LLC has filed suit against the City of Murfreesboro’s Board of Zoning Appeals for revoking the permit for a digital sign it already operates at 1804 Old Fort Parkway. Lamar had already received a permit for the sign 19 days earlier, and the sign was already installed and in operation at the time of the revocation.
